Obituary for Vicki J. McCarthy
Vicki Jean McCarthy, age 70, of Hampshire passed away suddenly but peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday February 15, 2023. Vicki was born on April 16, 1952, in Elgin, IL, one of three daughters born to the late Robert F. and Jayne (Brandes) Ehlert.
Vicki was a lifelong resident of the Dundee-Hampshire area. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee. She was a 1966 graduate of Immanuel Evangelical School and a 1970 graduate of Dundee Community High School. On June 29, 1974, she married her husband Orland “Mac” McCarthy. Vicki dedicated her life in the family business as a supporter, owner, and majority investor in Carbonic Gas Service & MacCarb, Inc, alongside her husband and three sons. In addition to being involved in the “Fizz Biz” her first love was the dedication, and commitment she had for raising her three boys. Vicki and Mac made their home in Hampshire for over 38 years, where Vicki was involved in the local community, raised her wonderful children, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years Orland “Mac” McCarthy and their three sons, David (Tracey), Adam (Lia) and Robert (Meghan) McCarthy. She loved and adored her eight grandchildren: Hunter, Peyton, Cooper, Sienna, Landon, Eli, Maverick and Navy. Other survivors include her two sisters, Paula (Cliff) Krueger and Julie (Tim) Barnstead; her stepsister Lynn (Richard) McCarthy, and stepbrother, Jeff (Shannon) Seager. She is also survived by many McCarthy in-laws, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, Vicki was preceded in death by her stepfather, Dale A. Saeger.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 11:00 A.M at Trinity Lutheran Church 135 Terwilliger St. in Hampshire with Rev Chuck Ridulph, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at the Hampshire Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 4-8 P.M. and again on Saturday morning at the church from 10:00 A.M until the time of the service.
