Obituary for Thomas E. Edwardsen
Thomas E. “Tom“ Edwardsen, age 64, of Carpentersville passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly on Monday, April 3, 2023, at his home. Tom was born in Elgin on November 3, 1958, and was the youngest of three sons born to the late Edward & LaVerne (nee Thyfault) Edwardsen.
Tom was raised in Carpentersville, a member of St. Monica Church, and a 1976 graduate of Irving Crown High School in Carpentersville. Following high school Tom attended and graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology. He had lived in the area all of his life with the exception of living in Centralia for 12 years. For many years, Tom had worked as a technician at The Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin and later worked at Duke’s Barbeque in East Dundee.
Tom enjoyed football, travel, auto racing, and camping. He was a kind person with a big heart and a warm smile. He was devoted to caring for his family and everyone knew him as “Uncle Tom “
Survivors include his brother, Richard “Rick” (Bonnie) Edwardsen; his nieces and nephews: Edward Wm. Edwardsen, Jennifer (Jeremy) Morgan, Rhiannon (Terrance “Duke”) Seward, and Eric (Ana) Edwardsen. His grandnieces and grandnephews: Anthony and Jeremy Paul Morgan, Addie Rose Seward, and Ariel and Alana Edwardsen. Other survivors include his cousins and many good and faithful friends. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Edward “ Ed” Edwardsen.
At Tom’s request, he was cremated. Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Mass at St. Monica Catholic Church in Carpentersville on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at the Dundee Township East Cemetery in East Dundee. A Celebration of his life will continue after Tom’s burial. Please omit flowers. Masses would be appreciated or memorials in Tom’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee is assisting the family with all arrangements.
