Sylvia F. Stark, age 83, of West Dundee passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home under the care of her daughter on Saturday morning, September 17, 2022. Sylvia was born on March 22, 1939, in Elgin and was the daughter of the late William & Gladys Ebert. On June 28, 1958, she married her husband Melvin L. “ Mel” Stark. Mel preceded Sylvia in death on December 28, 2014, after 56 years of marriage. Sylvia was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1957 graduate of Dundee Community High School. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in West Dundee and for many years sang in the Chancel Choir. Prior to retirement, Sylvia had many jobs. She had formerly worked at First National Bank of Elgin, she was an East Dundee Police Matron, an East Dundee Police School Crossing Guard, a Dundee Highland Elementary School Playground Supervisor, and finally an Activities Director at Olivette Nursing Center in Elgin.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Neubauer and her significant other Jesus ”Chuy” Alanis, and her grandson Jacob and his wife Shelby Neubauer. In addition to her parents and husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by her sisters, Verna and Marilyn.

Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 4-8 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 12:00 Noon.
