Sylvia M. Burris, age 90, of Carpentersville passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home under the care of and surrounded by her family on Friday evening, May 12, 2023. Sylvia was born on March 20, 1933 in Danville, Illinois, and was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Mabel M. (nee Lopp) Jones.
For over 53 years, Sylvia made her home in Carpentersville. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by profession. Prior to retirement, Sylvia was a many-year employee of St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin and later worked private duty home healthcare.
Survivors include her sons, Richard and Randy Burris, and her daughters, Connie (Rick) Kamp and Carla (Lonnie) Grooms. Other survivors include her grandchildren: Sunny (Tyrell) Bell, Aaron Burris, Tyler ( fiance’) Megan Tompkins) Burris, Joshua (Dana) Kamp, Jeremiah (Dianna) Kamp, Jacob (Danielle) Kamp, David (Vanessa) Ikert, Kristy Zientek, Jessica (Esturgio) Gama, David Darnell, Kayleigh (Linn) Hurley, Zachary (Ashley) Grooms, Dewey (Sierra) Grooms, and Leroy (Hayley) Grooms; her 28 great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Barb (Gary) Kneller, Dorothy (Don) Bosler, and Liz Harrold; her two brothers, Oakie, and J.D. Jones, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend of 58 years Carl R. Burris on September 1, 2013, her brother, Harvey Jones, and her sister, Mary Marlo.
