Susan L. Pletz, age 76, of Gilberts former longtime resident of Elmhurst passed away on Sunday morning, October 23, 2022, at Encore Memory Care in Crystal Lake. Susan was born in Chicago on July 3, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Robert & Grace (nee Kedge) Teufel. Susan was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Western Michigan University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Science. Prior to retirement in 2002 for 16 years, Susan taught Biology at Naperville Central High School in School District #203. For many years Susan and Steven made their home in the Dundee area and were members of the First Congregational Church in West Dundee.

Susan is survived by her husband of 53 years, Steven H.; their daughter, Trisha L. and her husband Don McGady, and their son Timothy S. and his wife Susanne Pletz. Other survivors include her four grandchildren, Benjamin, Kailey, Hannah, and Matthew, and her sisters, Judy Teufel and Caryl Schoen. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Tom Schoen.

Family and Friends will gather for a Memorial Funeral Service on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at First Congregational Church 900 S. Eighth Street in West Dundee with Rev. Aaron James, Pastor officiating. Inurnment will follow in the churchyard columbaria. Susan’s family will be receiving friends at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
