Steven L. “Steve” Ziolkowski, age 67, of Carpentersville, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, under the care of and surrounded by his family on Friday afternoon, May 12, 2023. Steve was born on August 7, 1955, in Chicago and was the son of the late Louis A., Jr. and Julia (nee Revak) Ziolkowski. Steve was a lifelong resident of Carpentersville and a 1973 graduate of Irving Crown High School. On March 28, 1979, he married his wife and best friend Colleen M. Berg. Steve was a professional painter by trade and a member of the Painter’s Union Local # 180.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Colleen; their sons, Steven (Rebecca) Ziolkowski and Nicholas Ziolkowski; his granddaughters, Abigail and Madeleine Ziolkowski; his sister, Xenia Ziolkowski; his sisters-in-law Maureen and Marilee Berg; his nieces and nephews: Ryan (Robert) O'Reilly, Nicole and Michael Berg, Tadgh and Medbh O'Reilly. In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Martin & Lois Berg; his brother-in-law, Michael Berg; and sister-in-law, Sheila Berg.
Family and friends will meet for Funeral Mass on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine Of Siena Church, West Dundee with Rev. John McNamara, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael The Archangel Cemetery in Palatine. Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 PM and again on Thursday morning at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
