Obituary for Steven A. Croston
Steven A. “Steve” Croston, age 62, of Carpentersville, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Steve was born on May 16, 1960, in Duluth, Minnesota, and was the son of Roscoe “Rocky” and Lois May (nee Dole) Croston.
On June 10, 2000, he married his beloved wife Kelly J. Roney. Kelly preceded Steve in death on July 16, 2013, after 13 years of marriage.
Steve was a resident of Carpentersville for over 44 years and a 1978 graduate of Barrington High School. Prior to retirement, Steve was a loyal and valued longtime employee of Motorola.
Survivors include his mother, Lois Croston; his son, Tim (April) Croston; his three daughters, Christine and Samantha Kaldschmidt, and Ashley (Brad) Schultz; and his eight grandchildren: Emma, Jayden, and Alexander Croston, Jayden, Jordan, and Jace Hernandez, Alexia, and Alexander Acevedo. Other survivors include his sister, Kathy Decker, his nieces, and nephews, as well as countless friends. In addition to his beloved wife, Kelly, Steve was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe “Rocky” Croston on Sept. 21, 2002, and his brother, Bill Croston on August 5, 2009.
At Steve’s request, he will be cremated. A memorial gathering will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 4:00- 8:00 P.M.
