Simona Rhodes, age 70, a longtime resident of the Village of Lakewood was called to heaven to join her son Roman, parents Leopoldo and Rosa, and other loved ones on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. She leaves behind her husband of 36 years, Dan, their daughter Andrea (Chris), and grandkids Owen, Addison, and Leo. Also, granddaughter Naomi. We are grateful for all the memories with such a remarkable woman who shined as brightly on the inside as her smile on the outside. She loved sitting in her garden watching butterflies and hummingbirds, sunrises in the smokies, sunsets over Crystal Lake, and campfires any place in between. Simona lived and loved fiercely, was warm and welcoming, and had a passion for unique foods. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed seeing them multiple times a week for crafts, game nights, and sleepovers. She never missed plays, musicals, games, or birthdays for the kids. Simona created her own American dream coming from Mexico at the age of 12, getting her citizenship, and becoming a proud patriot that served as an election judge.

Other survivors include her brothers Arnulfo, Alfredo, Martin, Miguel, their wives, and numerous nieces and nephews extending to great nieces and great nephews along with countless good and faithful friends.

Family and Friends will gather for a Funeral Mass on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church 451 Terra Cotta Avenue(Corner of Route 176 & Oak Street) in Crystal Lake, IL 60014.

Following her Funeral Mass, her family will be hosting a Celebration of her Life at Lou Malnati’s 8515 Redtail Drive, Village of Lakewood, IL 60014 from 12:00 Noon-3:00 P.M.
