Sandra M. “Sandy” (nee’ Hankes) Newton, age 73, of Cordova, Tennessee, former many-year resident of the Dundee area, and former 44 year valued and loyal employee of the First American Bank Dundee and Elk Grove Village branches, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023, after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer.

Sandy was born on June 28, 1950, in Aurora, Illinois, and was the daughter of the late Richard H. & Mary Elizabeth (nee’ Pohl) Hankes.

Sandy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 31 years, Darrell Newton, and her two sisters, Paula (Eric) Hanson and JoAnn Manfredini. Other survivors include her nieces and nephews: Bob (Carol) Spangler, Hali (Nate) Ficek, Dawn (Joe) Sowders, Jillian Spangler, Rick (Kelly) Spangler, Joe (Veronica) Spangler, Mary Spangler, Emily (Phil) Love, and Amber Hankes, along with many faithful friends, colleagues, and customers through her banking career.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her brother, Peter Hankes.

At Sandy’s request, she was cremated. A Memorial Gathering will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.
