Obituary for Robert H. Swendsen
Robert H. Swendsen, age 89, of East Dundee passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Grove of St. Charles in St. Charles. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin on May 10, 1933. Bob was the son of the late Harry & Edith (nee Monefeldt) Swendsen. He was a lifelong resident of the Dundee area, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and was a 1951 graduate of Dundee Community High School.
Bob was an electrical engineer by profession. Prior to retirement, for many years he was a loyal and valued employee of Northrup-Grumman. He was also a very proud United States Navy Veteran. In retirement for many years, Bob was an active supporter and volunteer for Horizons For The Blind, Inc.
On October 23, 1954, he married Rhona Jean Dobler. Rhona proceeded Bob in death on February 22, 2010, after 55 years of marriage
Survivors include his sons, Daniel (Kimberly) and Richard (Belinda). Other survivors include his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerry.
At Bob’s request, he will be cremated. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Dundee Township East Cemetery in East Dundee.
