Obituary for Michael D. " Mike" Fritz
Michael D. ”Mike“ “Big Papa“ Fritz, age 83, of East Dundee passed away on Saturday morning, November 12, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Mike was born on February 11, 1939 in Elgin and was one of four children born to the late Melvin & Gertrude (nee Rakow) Fritz.
Mike was a lifelong resident of the area, a 1957 graduate and Valedictorian of Dundee Community High School and a 1962 graduate of Valparaiso University. He served in the United States Army from 1962-1964. Mike was an Electrical Engineer by professional, and prior to retirement for 43 years, he was a loyal and valued employee of Underwriters Laboratories. Mike was baptized, confirmed and was a 1953 graduate of Immanuel Lutheran School. He served his church as an Elder for many years, he was a member of the Saturday Morning Men’s Bible Study, a longtime member of the Men’s Club and a member of the Senior Bible Class.
On May 6, 1967 he married his beloved Wife, Donna M. Voegele. Donna preceded Mike in death on April 18, 2012 after 44 years of marriage.
Survivors include his two sons, Scott (Jackie) Fritz and Timothy (Jill) Fritz; his grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew, Kylee, Grayce, Brady, Maddie and Harris. Other survivors include his sister, Mary (John) Francis, his nieces, nephews, in-laws, many friends, and his Immanuel church family. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Donna, Mike was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul D. and Thomas Fritz.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 in Luther Hall at Immanuel Lutheran Church 310 E. Main Street in East Dundee from 10:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Services at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. William P. Yonker, Senior Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at the Dundee Township East Cemetery in East Dundee. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
