Obituary for Mary J. Pace
Mary “Cookie” Pace, age 81, of East Dundee passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Crescent Care in Elgin. Cookie was born on March 30, 1941 in Elgin, the daughter of the late Anthony & Frances (nee Esposito) Pace.
Cookie was a lifelong resident of the area and a lifelong member of the St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Dundee. Cookie was the former co-owner and operator along with her family of the “Halfway House” Tavern in East Dundee. Cookie was also a former employee of Jewel Foods in West Dundee. Survivors include her niece, Frances (Kirk) Marschke; her nephew, Phillip Aurand; her grand-nieces, Nicolette Wolf and Catherine Galyon; and her grand-nephew, Jeffrey Marschke. Cookie is also survived by many cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Cookie was preceded in death by her sister: Angelina M. “Angie” Aurand.
