Obituary for Kathryn A. "Kathy" Craig
Kathryn Craig age 79, known to most as Kathy, of Carpentersville, IL passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023. She was born on June 12, 1943 in Wheeling, West Virginia to parents Bernard and Julia (Stout) Peterson.
Kathy, also given the name “Boo” by her dear sister Mickey, grew up in Holbrook and Garrison Pennsylvania where she attended West Greene High School in Rogersville, Pennsylvania. She was married to her husband Robert Craig in 1962 until his passing in 1989. Together, they moved to Carpentersville, IL in 1965. Kathy spent her time in Carpentersville working at Chicago Rawhide, later known as SKF, and raising her children. She spent many years as a member of the Carpentersville Moose Lodge. Kathy retired from Chicago Rawhide (SKF) in 2006. She spent her time in retirement enjoying her family.
Kathy loved to dance, watch sports, nascar, and wheel of fortune, and enjoyed vacations on the beach. Kathy was a very loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She would spoil her abundance of grandchildren endlessly. Her doors were always open for a place to gather around her table and enjoy the company of family with endless laughs.
Kathy is survived by her children, Melissa Gwinn, Roberta (Parker) Rognlie, Robert Craig, and Ronald (Cindy) Craig, her grandchildren; Cassandra (Daniel) Maurer, Jack Gwinn, Christopher Gwinn, Amber Loewe, Amanda (Kyle) Nelson, Justin Craig; her siblings; Myrna Lesnock, Marcella Rizor, Lesetta (John) Briggs, Faye (James) Brockman, and Nelson (Eva) Peterson, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many other friends and family that loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Julia (Stout) Peterson, her sister Louella Stalnaker, her brothers-in-law Robert Rizor and Roger Stalnaker, and son in law Jack Gwinn.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carpentersville Moose Lodge, 309 Lake Marian Rd, Carpentersville, IL 60110.
