June L. Califf, age 93, of Crystal Lake a former resident of various Counties in Illinois, and a former resident of Phoenix, Arizona for 20 plus years passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Crystal Lake. June was born in Chicago on March 26, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Dominick and Lillian (nee Jaworski) Vaccaro. On June 11, 1949 she married her beloved husband and best friend Hugh P. Califf. Hugh preceded June in death on August 27,1999 after celebrating 50 years of marriage. Prior to retirement, June had worked in Telemarketing and was the former office manager of Dial America Telemarketing. In retirement, June became an avid golfer. While living in Phoenix, she served as President of the Ahwatukee Women’s Golf League.
Most of all, June was a loving and devoted wife and mother and later a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her four living children: Danny (Debbie) Califf, Mary (Steve) Ehlers, Patty (Ferdie, Jr.) Kimminau, and Mike (Jeannie) Califf. Other survivors include her five grandchildren: Sean (Carter) and Nick Califf, Kyle (Abigail) and Randall (Regina Sanchez) Kimminau, and Joe Califf; her Step Grandchildren: Zach (Amanda) and Tyler (Drew Dondero) Ehlers; her great-granddaughter/namesake, June; her step-great granddaughter, Adrian, as well as several nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, June was preceded in death by her three sons, Jack, Tom, and Hugh Califf, Jr.; grandson, Jason Califf; and her brother, Ray Vaccaro.
At June’s request, she was cremated. She will be inurned privately in Phoenix, Arizona.
A Memorial Visitation for June and her son Tom will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 1:30-until time of a Memorial Service at 3:00 P.M. officiated by Rev. J. Robert Camacho.
