Obituary for John F. Wilson III

John Francis Wilson III, age 60, born on March 3, 1962, to Shirley E. Wilson (nee Winkel) and John F. Wilson Jr., passed away peacefully, in his home with his wife and children at his side.
John is preceded in death by his Mother and Father; his Grandparents: William H. and Ethel M. Winkel, John F. and Alice Wilson; Uncle, Dennis and Marian (Winkel) Gross; Cousins: William Mescher, Helen Mescher, John and Joseph Mescher, Christina Mescher, Dorothy Gawne, Irene and June Hall, Jim Vanhootegem, Mark Voehringer, Aunt Theresa Piombino and Uncle Frank and Lena Territo, Lilla and Giuseppe Piombino, and Rose Ferrington.
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Lisa (nee Piombino); their children Natalie Rose and Ean Joseph; his sister, Susan (Todd) Curry; Mother and Father-in-law, Laura and Joseph Piombino, whom he loved as his own parents just as they, their own son, and his much-loved future daughter in law, Veronica Quezada.
John is also survived by his cousins: Richard and Charlotte Mosher, who have been a wonderful support system for Lisa, Bill Mosher, Michael Mosher, and many other cousins of all ages. He is loved by his brother-in-law, John & Rhonda Piombino; Uncle, John Piombino; Lisa’s cousins who have also been extremely supportive on this journey, Mike and Gail Piombino, Dan and Samantha Piombino, Joe and Debbie Piombino, Connie Vanhootegem, and Julie Voehringer. Many more cousins on Lisa’s side along with an abundance of friends near and far.
John and Lisa’s love story began while participating on a European Choir Tour offered by their high school music department; John as an alum and Lisa a current student. She looked at him from afar though, as he was a bit too old for her at the time. However, after a second tour a couple years later, John asked Lisa on a date and so the story began.
John’s number one love and priority was taking care of his family. He was a devoted and loving husband that many say was a match made from Heaven! John was a loving and caring father who made sure he was present for his children by attending all their activities while growing up. John always desired what was best for them and provided guidance and advice even in their adulthood.
John spent 39 ½ years working in elementary and junior high schools. He took pride in providing safe and pristine buildings for the school children. While in high school and college, John worked as a night custodian at School District 59 in Arlington Heights. His superb attention to detail and interest to advance led him to a leadership position as Buildings and Grounds Supervisor. John completed his career as Director of Facilities at School District 45 in Lombard after dedicating 17 years to the position. In retirement, John served as a Safety Inspection Officer at the Regional Office of DuPage, contributing his wealth of experience to the safety of the buildings for the children throughout that County. John was extremely disappointed he needed to take some time off from this leadership role. John was well respected and loved by everyone who worked with him.
John was a man of deep faith and was a Parish Council member. He taught us many lessons through his suffering. Even during his suffering, he found a quiet way to take care of others.
Anyone who knew John, knew he was a kind and generous soul, always willing to help others in any way he was able. We were all blessed to know John Francis Wilson, III; he will be missed and longed for beyond expression.
