John H. Briese, age 83, of Glenview former many-year resident of Carpentersville passed away on Thursday evening, October 6, 2022, at Elevate Care Abington in Glenview. John was born on June 11, 1939, in Chicago and was the son of the late Hans & Hildegard(nee Balke) Briese. On February 4, 1961, he married his wife Barbara J. Thielke. Barbara preceded John in death on September 28, 2011, after 50 years of marriage. Prior to retirement, John worked as a computer systems engineer in the Insurance industry.

Survivors include his 5 children, Marie(Michael) Ackerman, Donna(Michael)Stogis, John(Kate) Briese, Brian(Belinda) Briese, and Carolyn(Brad)Anderson. Other survivors include his grandchildren, Jim(Julie), and Christy Lima, Isabelle and Liam Briese, Sarah and Elizabeth Anderson, and his great-grandchildren; Dominic, Lucas, and Andrew Lima. John was looking forward to the birth of his great-granddaughter Maddie Lima in December.

Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Wendy Witt, officiating. Burial will follow at the River Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in West Dundee.
