James M. Schmitt age 74, a resident of East Dundee for over 20 years passed away peacefully in his home on Monday morning, March 20, 2023, under the care of his family and hospice. Jim was born in Chicago on July 4, 1948, and was the son of the late Clement & Charlotte (nee Huber) Schmitt.
Prior to retirement, for over 30 years, Jim was a loyal and valued employee of Commonwealth Edison. He was a United States Army Vietnam War veteran and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Dundee.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years and best friend of 50 years, Patricia A. (nee Miller); their son, Jason (Viviana Lopez) Schmitt; their daughter, Megan(Nick) Neitzel; and his five grandchildren: Scott, Lucas, Venice, Ryan, and Abigail. Other survivors include his siblings: Agnes Trace, Clement (Susan) Schmitt, Catherine Takala, John (Nancy Manthe) Schmitt, and Andrew Schmitt, as well as his nieces, nephews, and many good and faithful friends.

A memorial gathering will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 1-5 P.M. Inurnment with Military Honors will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. at the Columbarium at Dundee Township East Cemetery in East Dundee.
