James E. Ohlinger, age 57, of Marengo, Carpentersville Fire Department Lieutenant, RETIRED passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, March 12, 2023, at Northwestern Medicine, Huntley Hospital. Jim was born in Chicago on October 16, 1965, and was the son of the late Edward F. Ohlinger and Elaine Strawzewski Hill.
Jim was raised in Carpentersville and was a 1983 graduate of Dundee High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Benedictine University in 2010. Prior to retirement, For over 35 years, Jim served the Village of Carpentersville as a professional Fireman/Paramedic. He retired in 2019 having earned the rank of Lieutenant. He was also a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Union Local # 4790.
Survivors include his beloved wife and best friend of 25 years, Jennifer E. (nee Lamp), and their children, Alicia Ohlinger and Nicholas (fiance’ Hanna Passarella) Ohlinger. Other survivors include his sister Rebecca (Sean) Lintow, Sr., as well as his nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Fox Valley Baptist Church 16 N 562 Vista Lane in East Dundee with Rev. Phil Zilinski, officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Elgin. Visitation will be held at Fox Valley Baptist Church 16 N 562 Vista Lane in East Dundee on Friday, March 17, from 4-8 P.M. There will be an all-department Fire Service Honor Walk-through at 7:00. P.M. Please omit flowers.
