Obituary for Irma Schroeder

Irma R. Schroeder, age 88, of East Dundee passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home and under the care of her family on Sunday morning, October 30, 2022. Irma was born in Freeport, IL on July 26, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Earl S. & Cora Mae (nee Dyson) Albright. On February 13, 1954, she married her husband Kenneth D. “Pinky” Schroeder.

Irma made her home in the Dundee area for the past 68 years. She was a longtime active and faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee where she sang in the chancel choir for many years as well as serving as a Stephen’s Minister. Also, for over 20 years, Irma organized and ran the Mid-Week Advent and Lenten luncheons. Prior to retirement, Irma helped her husband in the running of Schroeder Cartage Company in East Dundee. Irma was a talented seamstress and enjoyed all types of needlework and quilting. She enjoyed bowling and was active for many years in area bowling leagues.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Kenneth D. “Pinky” Schroeder; their children: Janice (Rev.Tom) Wirsing, Kenneth L. Schroeder, Sandra Hager, Susan (Randy, Sr.) Janes, and Barbara (James) Christie. Other survivors include her grandchildren: Tara Wirsing, Thomas (Angela) Wirsing, Christie Alvarado, Keith (Danielle) Schroeder, Evan Schroeder, Jason (Candace) Hager, Randy (Kendra) Janes, Jr., and Dr. Margaret Christie; her great-grandchildren: Riley, Taya, Brady, Wyatt, Scarlett, Ellie, Hannah, MacKenzie, Liam, Jaxson, Elizabeth, and Nathan; her Sister, Yvonna Dalton, and sister-in-law, Linda Schroeder, along with her nieces, nephews, her Immanuel church family, and many good and faithful friends. In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her step-father, Clarence DeFrane; her son-in-law, Donald Hager; her brothers and sister-in-law, James and Jeanette, and Frank and Roberta Albright, her sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Charles Birr, as well as a brother in infancy Earl Albright and a sister in infancy Mary Albright. Memorial Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church 310 E. Main Street in East Dundee with Rev. William P. Yonker, Senior Pastor, officiating. Private family burial will be in the Dundee Township East Cemetery in East Dundee. The Schroeder family will be receiving friends at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
