Obituary for Edwin T. Young Jr.
Edwin T. Young, Jr., age 82, of West Dundee passed away on Monday morning, May 1, 2023, at Avantara Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Elgin.
Ed was born in “Old Carpentersville” on June 7, 1940, and was the son of the late Edwin T. & Virginia B. (nee Lusted) Young. On July 7, 2001, he married his beloved wife and best friend, Barbara J. Witt-Sutfin. Barb proceeded Ed in death on January 22, 2013, after 12 years of marriage. Ed was a lifelong resident of the Dundee area and a 1958 graduate of Dundee Community High School.
Survivors include his step-children, Jeanne (Brad) Gates, Jane Borton, Richard (Amy) Sutfin, and Randall (Christina) Sutfin; his grandchildren: Meghann, Zachary, Paige, Mason, Travis, Cameron, Jeremy, and Mitchell; his great-grandchildren: Jayden, Randall, and Gage. Other Survivors include his siblings: Nancy Krueger, Kathy (Joseph) Magerl, Jack (Chris Mundy) Young, and Phillip (Laurie) Young, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends, especially his dear friend Steve Stallings also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Kathryn Young, Gloria Martini, Sally Rattray, and Julia Henderson; and his brothers, Jerry Z. and Thomas Young.
At Ed’s request, he was cremated. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Dundee Township East Dundee Cemetery in East Dundee.
