Obituary for Edward L. "Yogi" Pfannkuche

Edward L. “Yogi” Pfannkuche,Jr. age 89, of Streamwood, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 in Elk Grove Village. Ed was born on September 3, 1933, to the late Edward L., Sr. and Bernice Francis (Nee Dahl) Pfannkuche.

Ed joined the Marine Corps in 1951 and served 2 tours in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged and later joined the US Navy Reserves in RNMCB-26 as Petty Officer 2nd class Communications Technician until his honorable discharge in 1984. He worked at Hallicrafters which became Northrop Grumman where he had a very successful career as an Electrical Engineer for 40 years. Ed loved the military and served in the Marine Corps League of Elgin and VFW Chapter 5151 in Streamwood. He loved to bowl, golf, and collect trains. He loved animals, especially his German Shepherds.

Ed was very charismatic and brought joy and laughter to all of his friends and family. He embodied the magic of Christmas as he met with children throughout the holiday season as Santa Claus learning about their Christmas wishes and brought smiles to their faces.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla (Glaszer) Pfannkuche; his daughters, Julie Slarich and Jennifer Dugger; his sons, Christopher and Andrew Pfannkuche; his grandchildren: Anthony Scarpinato, Diane (Nee Slarich) Ferguson, Steven Slarich, Calvin Dugger, Alex Dugger, Andrea Jo Pfannkuche, Nicholas Pfannkuche, and Jessie Pfannkuche; his great-grandson, Leo Slarich, and former spouses: Barbara (Koenig) Pfannkuche and Donna (Mae) Pfannkuche

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Francis Dahl, his father, Edward L Pfannkuche Sr, and his sister, Ethel (Pfannkuche) McGovern.

There will be no public visitation or service. Private family burial with military honors will be held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois on Tuesday, October 4,2022.
