Obituary for Dawn M. Soderstrom
Dawn M. Soderstrom, age 57, of East Dundee, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022, at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born on September 15, 1965, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Dawn was a resident of the Dundee area for the past 21 years. Prior to retirement, for over 30 years, Dawn was a loyal and valued employee of the Village of Schaumburg’s Finance Department. Dawn was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Carpentersville and heavily involved with her husband at I.O.O.F. Century Logde # 492 (Oddfellows) in “Old Carpentersville”. Dawn was an avid animal lover and a supporter of animal rescue.
Survivors include her beloved husband and best friend of 21 years, Jeremy, they married on September 14, 2001; her sons, Jon (Charlotte) Picardi and Justice Soderstrom; her grandson, Raphael Picardi; her mother, Irene (the late Bart) Wiefering; her father, Tom (Kim) Szatkowski, and her sisters, Amy Szatkowski and Denise(Leslie) Olson. Dawn is also survived by her Soderstrom in-laws, several nieces, and nephews as well as countless good and countless friends.
Dawn was a registered organ donor with the Gift Of Hope. In keeping with Dawn’s generous heart, her kind and giving spirit, and her love of people and service Jeremy honored Dawn’s wishes and she became an organ donor. Following her donation, at her request, she will then be cremated.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 12:30 P.M. at the Dundee VFW Post # 2298 located at 117 S.
