Obituary for Bruce D. Dehmlow

Bruce D. Dehmlow, age 66, of “ Old Carpentersville”, passed away on Wednesday evening, March 13, 2024, at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington. Bruce was born in Elgin on August 12, 1957, and was the son of David W. & Jean A. (nee Johnson) Dehmlow.

He was a lifelong resident of the area, a 1975 graduate of Dundee Community High School, and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in West Dundee. Following high school, Bruce became a Dispatcher for the West Dundee Police Department from 1976-1977 and then became a Law Enforcement Officer from 1978-1992.

Survivors include his mother, Jean Dehmlow; his daughters, Rebecca (Kevin) Demos and Alice (David) Putnam; his five granddaughters: Ella, Amelia, Emmerson, Clara, and Ainsley; and his grandson, Eli. Other survivors include his brothers, Mark A. Dehmlow and Craig E. (Jennifer) Dehmlow, his nieces, nephews, many cousins, as well as countless friends. In addition to his father, David, Bruce was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William A. & Esther L. Dehmlow, and his maternal grandparents, Earl E & Selma Johnson and a grandson in infancy Shepherd Demos.

Family and friends will gather for funeral services on Saturday, March 23, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church 318 W. Main Street in West Dundee. Burial will follow at the Dundee Township East Cemetery in East Dundee. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee and again on Saturday morning at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Instead of flowers. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in West Dundee.
