Obituary for Billy R. Cook
Billy R. Cook, Sr. age 77, of Chicago, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 18, 2022, at Riverview Healthcare and Rehab Center in Elgin. Billy was born in Jackson Mississippi on April 15, 1945 and was one of 11 children born to the late Stonewall and Louise( nee Stephany) Cook.
Billy was a 1963 graduate of Englewood High School in Chicago. He later went on to Chicago State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree and late a Master’s degree. He was a truck driver by profession. Billy was a man of various talents and interests and was an avid reader. He was a lifelong learner and at one time had contemplated entering Medical School to become a Doctor.
He is survived by his four children, Billy R.,Jr. (Denise) Cook, Sonya Cook, Maurice (Lexus Stokes) Cook, and Terrence (LaShaun) Cook. Billy is also survived by his 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren all of whom he loved and was very proud of. Other survivors include his brother, Jimmy Cook; his sisters: Gwen Cloyd, Sharon Hill, Patricia Hart, Sandra Jackson, and Carla Archer. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Cook; his daughter Veala Cook, and his four brothers, Stonewall Jr., Ronald, Roger, and Jerome Cook.
Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Sunday, October 23, 2022, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. Billy will then be cremated and the inurnment will be private.
