Obituary for Betty K. O'Grady
Betty K. O’Grady age 89, of East Dundee, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Betty was born in Galena, Illinois on August 29, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Andrew & Isabel Dahle.
Betty was a resident of the East Dundee area for over 65 years and was a longtime active and faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in West Dundee. She was a member of Bethlehem’s Women’s Guild and was a volunteer secretary. Betty was a 1955 graduate of Carthage College and was a member of the Carthage Alumni Association. She earned her degree in Education and Social Sciences. Betty was a former teacher in both the Barrington School District # 220 and later at Dundee Community School District # 300. Prior to retirement, Betty worked as the Executive Secretary at the Barrington Library. Betty was a generational lifelong Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
Survivors include her son, Eric; her grandson, Peter; and her brother, James Dahle. Betty is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and many good and faithful friends. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. O’Grady on October 9, 1978, and her brother, John Dahle.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in West Dundee with Rev. Jim Murr, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at the Dundee Township East Cemetery in East Dundee. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee and again on Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to either Bethlehem Lutheran Church in West Dundee or the Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin.
