Obituary for Andrew E. Olsen
Andrew Edwin “Andy” Olsen, age 44, of Lake In The Hills, passed away suddenly surrounded by his family on Monday evening, May 8, 2023, at Northwestern Medicine/Huntley Hospital. Andy was born on November 5, 1978, in Elgin and was the son of Andrew R. “Andy” & Linda S. (nee Holtz) Olsen.
Andy was a lifelong resident of the area. He was baptized, confirmed, and a lifelong member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee. Andy was a 1992 graduate of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran School and a 1996 graduate of Hampshire High School. While in high school, Andy was a member of the 1995 State Championship Football team and a record-holding member of the Hampshire High School Track Team. He attended Augustana University in Rock Island. During his time at Augustana, Andy was a member of the Vikings Football Team. He graduated from Augustana in 2000 having earned a bachelor’s degree in business. He then continued his education earning another bachelor’s degree in education from National Lewis. Andy enjoyed playing semi pro-football for the Kane County Eagles and the McHenry County Pirates. Andy was employed as a teacher in Cary School District # 26, and a part-time employee at Buffalo Wild Wings in Algonquin and Crystal Lake.
Andy is survived by his parents, Andy and Linda; his half-brother Jim (Lori) Olsen; and his niece, Angel Olsen. Other survivors include his aunts, Carol Payntar, and Sandra Holtz; his cousins: Rebecca (Mike) Bell, Abby (Nathan) Rowan, Eric (Tracey) Payntar, Leo (Sue) Krahula; his godchild, Melanie Keesler; as well as countless good and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Mildred Olsen; his maternal grandparents, Edwin and Inez Holtz; his uncle, Peter Payntar; and his aunt and uncle, Shirley & Wayne Guderian.
Family and friends will gather for Funeral Services on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church 310 E. Main Street in East Dundee with Rev. William P. Yonker, Senior Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at the River Valley Memorial Gardens in West Dundee. Visitation will be held in Luther Hall at Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Dundee on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 4-8 P.M. and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made in Andy’s memory to either Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran School or Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Foundation Fund.
